Microsoft 365 E7

One licence instead of three. Whether that suits you is the real question.

Microsoft 365 E7, the Frontier Worker suite, brings Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365 together into a single licence, powered by Work IQ and sitting on the applications and security stack you already run. Whether it saves money depends entirely on how many of those parts you were going to buy anyway.

In plain terms

Bundles save money for some businesses and waste it for others.

The answer depends on how many people genuinely need the top tier.

Without it

  • Copilot bought per user, on top of everything else
  • Agent licensing negotiated as a separate exercise
  • No clear view of who uses what they are paying for
  • Renewal decided on last year assumptions

With it

  • One licence line for the people who need all of it
  • Agent governance included rather than bolted on
  • Usage checked before the seats are committed
  • Renewal argued from evidence, not habit

Questions we hear a lot

Common questions about Microsoft 365 E7

What is Microsoft 365 E7?

E7, described by Microsoft as the Frontier Worker suite, unifies Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365 into a single licence, powered by Work IQ and integrated with the applications and security stack you already use.

Is it cheaper than buying the parts separately?

It can be, for people who would genuinely use all three. It is poor value for staff who only need E5. That is why the useful exercise is counting real Copilot and agent users before pricing anything.

Do we have to move everyone to it?

No, and most businesses should not. A mix of tiers is normal, with the top licence going to the roles that use the AI capability and everyone else staying where they are.

What is Agent 365 and why is it in here?

Agent 365 is the control centre for deploying, organising and governing agents, whoever built them. It is in the bundle because agents are becoming something businesses need to manage centrally rather than project by project.

What is Work IQ?

Work IQ is the platform layer that gives agents structured context about how work happens in your tenant. You do not buy it separately. It matters because it determines how much an agent understands before it acts.

What should we do before moving?

Fix oversharing. Widening AI access across a tenant with messy permissions makes an existing problem visible fast. A Microsoft Purview assessment is the work that has to happen either way.

Can you tell us not to buy it?

Yes, and we do. If the numbers say your current mix is better, that is the advice. We would rather be useful at the next renewal than sell you a tier you did not need.

Do you sell Microsoft licences?

We advise on what you need and help you deploy it. Where you buy the licences is a separate conversation, and we are comfortable with that sitting wherever suits you commercially.

Ready when you are

Not sure whether E7 saves you money or costs you more?

It genuinely depends on your numbers. A licensing review compares what you pay now against the bundle for the roles that would use it, and tells you plainly if the answer is no.
