What is Comet?
Comet is the Perplexity AI browser, free on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. Its assistant can see the page and tabs you are working in, answers with citations from them, and can act on the page: summarising, comparing, filling and navigating.
Is Comet really free?
Yes, the browser is free on all four platforms. Paid Perplexity plans add heavier limits and features on top, and Comet for Enterprise adds managed deployment. We size what you actually need.
Is it safe to let a browser act on its own?
Only with guardrails. Agentic browsing carries real risks, including malicious pages trying to mislead the agent, so we configure supervised modes, approved sites and clear no go zones, and keep sensitive accounts out of scope.
Do we have to replace Chrome?
No. Comet is Chromium based, so it imports bookmarks, passwords and extensions, and it can run alongside your existing browser for research work while you evaluate.
Where does it pay off first?
Research heavy desks: analysts, bids and tenders, procurement and anyone who lives in twenty tabs. The assistant reading the session saves the shuttling that eats their day.
What does it mean that the assistant can see my tabs?
It can read the pages you have open, so you can ask about them directly instead of copying text across. That is what makes it quick, and it is also why the guardrails need setting before a wide rollout.
Should everyone get it, or just some teams?
Start with the teams that live in the browser: research, procurement, bids, marketing, and anyone comparing suppliers or products all day. Those people feel the difference in the first week.
What do we need to agree before rolling it out?
