Common questions about Azure
What is Microsoft Azure?
Azure is Microsoft’s cloud platform. It is where hosting, integration, data and now AI workloads run underneath your Microsoft estate. Most businesses meet it through a specific need, such as moving a server, building an application or standing up a data platform, rather than adopting it all at once.
Our Azure bill keeps growing. Is that normal?
Growth with usage is normal. Growth nobody can explain is not. Tagging, budgets and right sizing reviews usually find meaningful savings in the first pass, and keep future spend visible.
Can our data stay in Australia?
Yes. Azure operates Australian regions, and we design for data residency where your compliance or your clients require it.
We mostly use Microsoft 365. Do we even need Azure?
You already use it, since Microsoft 365 runs on Microsoft's cloud. The question is whether your own workloads, integrations and AI projects need a properly governed Azure environment. If they exist, they do.
Should we lift and shift or modernise?
Both, selectively. Some workloads should move as they are, some are worth modernising and some should retire. We give you an honest call per workload rather than a slogan.
How long does moving to Azure take?
A single workload is usually weeks. A full data centre exit is months, and the timeline is driven by the awkward systems rather than the straightforward ones. We map those first so the plan reflects the hard parts instead of assuming everything moves like the easy ones.
Who manages Azure after the project finishes?
Whoever you want, and we will build it so that is a real choice. Some clients keep it in house, some ask us to run it, some split it. What we will not do is design something only we can operate.
How does Microsoft Foundry relate to Azure?
Foundry is the platform for building and running AI applications and agents on Azure. If you are building your own AI rather than buying Copilot licences, that is where it happens, and it uses the same identity, network and governance controls as the rest of your Azure environment.
