Power BI

Reports people actually trust.

Power BI turns your data into reports and dashboards, and it now lives inside Microsoft Fabric, reporting from OneLake through governed semantic models. We build reporting that ends the argument about whose numbers are right.

In plain terms

Two dashboards, two answers, zero trust.

Reporting works when everyone draws from the same well. Here is what changes.

Without the work

  • Reports hand fed from exports and email attachments
  • Each team defining revenue slightly differently
  • Dashboards multiplying while trust shrinks
  • Leaders deciding on gut feel because the numbers argue

With the work

  • Reports refreshing from governed semantic models
  • One definition of each metric, agreed and enforced
  • Certified reports people cite in meetings
  • Decisions made on numbers nobody disputes

Questions we hear a lot

Common questions about Power BI

What is Microsoft Power BI?

Power BI turns your data into reports and dashboards people can use. It now sits inside Microsoft Fabric, reporting from the OneLake storage layer through governed semantic models, which is what stops two reports disagreeing about the same number.

Why not just use Excel?

Excel is brilliant for analysis and terrible as a distribution system. Power BI gives you refreshed, governed, shareable reporting, and it still plays nicely with Excel where Excel is the right tool.

How is Power BI licensed?

Per user Pro and Premium Per User licences, plus Fabric capacity for larger estates. We size the right mix during discovery.

We have hundreds of reports and nobody trusts any of them. Where do we start?

With the metrics that run the business. We build certified semantic models for those first, retire the duplicates, and grow from a trusted core rather than trying to fix everything at once.

Is our data safe in Power BI?

It inherits your Microsoft 365 security, with row level security controlling who sees what inside a report. Governance is part of the build, not an afterthought.

What is a semantic model and why does it matter?

It is the agreed definition of your measures, sitting between the raw data and the reports. It matters because it is the thing that makes revenue mean the same in every report. Without one, each report author invents their own and the arguments start.

Why do people stop trusting reports?

Almost always because two reports disagree and nobody can explain why. It is rarely a Power BI problem. It is a definitions problem, and that is what we fix first when we are asked to rescue a reporting estate.

Can Copilot answer questions from our Power BI data?

It can, and the quality depends entirely on the model underneath. Asking an AI questions about ungoverned data produces confident answers that are wrong, which is worse than no answer. Governed models first, AI second.
