OpenClaw

A personal AI agent you host, reached from your chat apps.

OpenClaw is the widely adopted open source personal agent: self hosted, messaging first and endlessly extensible. Message it on WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack and it acts, running tasks, browsing, scheduling and automating on infrastructure you control. It is powerful, and it demands proper hardening. We run it ourselves, and we deploy it safely.

In plain terms

An agent with hands needs rules.

OpenClaw acts on your systems from a chat message, which is the power and the risk. Here is what changes.

Without the work

  • An agent installed on defaults with broad system access
  • Community skills added without anyone reading them
  • Credentials and tokens scattered through configuration
  • Impressive demos and an uneasy security team

With the work

  • Access scoped to exactly what the agent needs
  • A curated, reviewed skill set instead of an open door
  • Secrets managed properly and rotated
  • An agent your security posture can live with

Questions we hear a lot

Common questions about OpenClaw

What is OpenClaw?

OpenClaw is a widely adopted open source personal agent. You host it yourself and reach it from messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack. It runs tasks, browses, schedules and automates on infrastructure you control.

Is OpenClaw safe to run?

Hardened, yes; on defaults, no. It is an agent with real system access, so permissions, secrets, skill review and network exposure must be set deliberately. That hardening is the core of our deployment work.

What do people actually use it for?

Message triage, calendar and scheduling, research, browsing tasks, file handling, home and office automation and daily briefings, all driven from a chat thread.

Does it need expensive models?

No. It runs on cloud models or local ones through Ollama, and a sensible setup routes routine work to cheap or local models. The always on pattern makes cost design worth doing properly.

Is this an enterprise product?

It is an open source project, moving fast, with a huge community. That is its strength and its risk. We deploy it where that trade makes sense and say plainly where a managed product fits better.

What does hardening it actually involve?

Limiting what it can reach, what it can spend and what it can do without asking. That means keeping its credentials separate from anyone personal account, restricting the machines and sites it can touch, and logging what it did so there is a record.

Who should own it inside our business?

Someone technical, named, and with time for it. An agent with real access and no owner is the risk here, not the software.

Can it be given access to company systems?

It can, and that is the decision to take slowly. We start it with read only access to a narrow set of things, watch what it does, and widen from there only where the value is clear.
