Perplexity Computer
An agent that does the work, not a search box that describes it.
Perplexity Computer takes a goal you describe, plans the steps and carries them out across your files, apps and connected tools. It hands back a finished document, analysis or deck rather than an answer to read. It launched in February 2026 and reached Windows on 28 July 2026.

In plain terms
Perplexity answers the question. Computer produces the output.
The difference is whether you still have to build the thing yourself afterwards.
Without it
- You get a good answer, then start the real work
- Research and drafting live in separate places
- Long jobs stall whenever a person is busy
- Nobody can see how a document was put together
With it
- You describe the outcome and review a draft
- Research, analysis and drafting happen in one run
- Multi-step work continues without hand-holding
- Every step and source is visible for checking
What CG TECH can do with Perplexity Computer
Useful on day one, safe on day thirty.
We find the jobs worth handing over: recurring reports, first-draft documents, research packs and analyses that eat senior time. We also name the work it should not touch, which matters more.
Computer is only as useful as what it can reach. We connect the document libraries, exports and tools it needs, and keep that list deliberately short so the output stays traceable.
Agent output still needs an owner. We set who reviews what, at which point, and how a finished piece gets signed off before it leaves the business.
Computer sits on the Max and Enterprise Max plans, so it is a per-seat decision rather than a site-wide one. We work out who genuinely needs it before you buy.
How an engagement runs

02
Connect the sources
We give it access to the right material and nothing more.
03
Run it side by side
Your team runs the real job both ways and compares the output.
04
Set the review rule
We agree who checks what before anything goes out.
Questions we hear a lot
Common questions about Perplexity Computer
What is Perplexity Computer?
Computer is Perplexity’s agent. You describe an outcome, it plans the steps and carries them out across connected files, apps and the web, then returns a finished document, analysis or presentation rather than a block of text to read.
How is it different from asking Perplexity a question?
A search answer tells you what it found. Computer does the work that normally follows: pulling the sources together, doing the analysis and producing the document. The difference is whether a person still has to build the output afterwards.
Which plan do we need?
Computer is available on the Max and Enterprise Max plans. That makes it a per-person decision rather than something you switch on for everyone, so it pays to work out who actually needs it first.
Does it run on Windows?
Yes. Computer started on Mac and came to Windows on 28 July 2026. It can work with authorised files and applications on the machine as well as with connected sources.
Can it see our confidential documents?
Only what you connect it to. The practical control is being deliberate about which libraries and exports it can reach, and reviewing that list as usage grows.
Is the output safe to send to a client?
Not without a person reading it first, and we would not set it up that way. We agree a review step for anything that leaves the business, and keep the source trail visible so a reviewer can check the working.
How does this compare with Microsoft 365 Copilot?
They overlap but sit differently. Copilot works inside Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams against your Microsoft 365 content. Computer is a general agent that pulls from whatever you connect. Plenty of businesses will use both, for different jobs.
Where do most rollouts go wrong?
Handing over work nobody had defined properly. If the job is vague when a person does it, it will be vague when an agent does it. We start by writing down what good output looks like.
