ShareGate
Move to Microsoft 365 once, properly, and keep it tidy.
ShareGate is the tool we reach for when an organisation moves into Microsoft 365, merges tenants or wants its environment back under control. We plan the move, run it in stages and set up the governance that keeps the tenant tidy after we leave. CG TECH is a ShareGate partner.

In plain terms
A migration is a chance to fix the mess, not move it.
Search, Copilot and every AI tool you switch on later will ground their answers in what the tenant holds. What you move and what you leave behind both matter.
Without the work
- Content copied as it sits, mess included
- Permissions carried over blind
- Old sprawl with a new address
- No owners, no rules, no cleanup
With the work
- A structure designed around how you work now
- Permissions mapped and checked deliberately
- Stale content retired, not relocated
- Owners and governance from day one
What CG TECH can do with ShareGate
The work, broken into the parts that matter.
From wherever your content lives now
On premises SharePoint Server, file shares, Google Workspace and Box, moved into Microsoft 365 in planned stages. ShareGate analyses the source first, so we know what is worth moving, what should merge and what should retire before anything copies.
content lands where people expect it
Mergers, splits and rebrands
When two organisations become one, or one becomes two, we move SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive and Exchange Online between tenants with permissions and metadata intact, scheduled around the business, with a delta pass to catch late changes.
one tenant, no loose ends
Rules that apply themselves
New sites and teams created from templates with ownership, naming and sharing rules built in. ShareGate keeps watch for inactive workspaces, ownership gaps and sprawl, and we set the policies so the tidy state lasts.
sprawl never gets started
Know who can see what
Tenant wide reporting on permissions, guest access and oversharing. Before you switch on Copilot or other AI tools, we find the content that is shared too widely, because AI will surface it to anyone who technically has access.
fix oversharing before AI finds it

Questions we hear a lot
Common questions about ShareGate
What is ShareGate?
ShareGate is a migration and governance tool for Microsoft 365. We reach for it when an organisation moves into Microsoft 365, merges tenants, or wants its environment back under control. CG TECH is a ShareGate partner.
Do we need to buy ShareGate licences before you start?
No. You do not need to own ShareGate before we begin. If your team wants it for day to day governance after the migration, we help you choose the right licence and set it up.
Can you migrate from SharePoint 2013, 2016 or 2019?
Yes. On premises SharePoint Server, file shares, Google Workspace, Box and other Microsoft 365 tenants are all supported sources. Older farms often need some preparation first, which the assessment covers.
How long does a migration take?
It depends on how much content you have and how complex the permissions are. The assessment gives you a staged plan with dates before anything moves, so there are no surprises.
What happens to permissions, metadata and version history?
They move with the content. We map permissions to the target structure rather than copying them blind, and we check metadata and version history after every batch.
Can our team keep working during the migration?
Yes. We migrate in stages, schedule cutovers around your team, and run a delta pass at the end so anything created during the move comes across too.
Can it move data between two Microsoft 365 tenants?
Yes. Tenant to tenant moves are one of the main reasons we use it, usually after a merger or a demerger. Those jobs need the most planning, because two sets of permissions and naming have to become one.
What happens after the migration is finished?
That is where most of the value sits. We set up the reporting and clean up that keep the tenant tidy: unused sites, over shared content and permissions that have drifted. Without that, the mess is back within a year.
