What is Microsoft SharePoint?
SharePoint is where your documents, intranet and institutional knowledge live inside Microsoft 365. It is also the number one grounding source for Microsoft 365 Copilot, which means the state of your SharePoint sets the ceiling on how useful and how safe your AI will be.
Copilot keeps giving odd answers. Is SharePoint the reason?
Very often, yes. Copilot grounds heavily in SharePoint, so duplicated, stale or overshared content becomes wrong or leaky answers. Fixing the content fixes most of it.
What is AI in SharePoint, and what does it cost?
It is the built in AI capability formerly called the Knowledge Agent: metadata enrichment, library organisation, plain language workflows and content maintenance. It is included with the Microsoft 365 Copilot licence rather than sold separately.
Do we need a full rebuild or a cleanup?
Usually a cleanup with targeted restructuring. Full rebuilds are for structures that fight how the organisation works. We tell you which one you are honestly facing after the assessment.
How do we stop oversharing without blocking work?
Permission reviews, sensible defaults, sensitivity labels and access insights. The goal is content open to the right people, which is different from open to everyone.
Why does SharePoint decide whether Copilot works?
Because Copilot reads from it. If your content is duplicated, out of date or filed where nobody expects, Copilot will find all of that and quote it confidently. Tidy content is not housekeeping here, it is the input quality for every AI answer.
What is oversharing and how bad is it usually?
Oversharing is content shared far more widely than anyone intended, usually through old links or a site shared with everyone. It is almost always worse than people expect, and it is measurable rather than a matter of opinion. Microsoft Purview is how you measure it.
Can you fix it without disrupting how people work?
Yes, and that constraint is the whole job. A clean-up that blocks people gets reversed within a fortnight. We work in stages, start with the worst sites and keep the changes visible so nobody is surprised by them.
