Clear advice for complex agencies

We advise Australian government departments and agencies on Microsoft 365, governance and digital change: assessments, roadmaps and enablement that respect how government actually works.

Why it matters

Big mandates, real constraints

Government teams are asked to modernise while staying compliant with records, security and procurement obligations that do not pause for the project. Advice that ignores those constraints does not get implemented.

We start from your obligations and your people. Assessments produce findings you can act on inside the rules, and enablement work brings staff along, because a capability only counts once people actually use it.

  • Findings you can act on inside the rules
  • Roadmaps with stages and dependencies, not slogans
  • Staff brought along, not left behind

Examples of our work

What good looks like in government

Two real programs for Queensland Government departments.

DESBT

SharePoint and Purview

The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training needed to move document management to SharePoint Online while meeting governance and compliance obligations.

We ran governance workshops, deployed Microsoft Purview for information protection and lifecycle management, proved the approach in their tenant and delivered a staged adoption roadmap.

Outcomes

  • Compliance gaps identified and closed
  • Purview protecting the information lifecycle
  • A staged, proven migration path

Dept of Environment and Science

Change management

Most scientists in the Science Delivery Knowledge division kept models and code in manually named files rather than version control.

In six weeks we built an agreed GitHub structure, trained scientists hands-on and stood up a community of practice with guides and self-paced resources.

Outcomes

  • 153 scientists enabled
  • 35 repositories, 23 training sessions
  • Assets now shared and reused
Trust and governance

Safe by design

Government work carries obligations we treat as design inputs, not obstacles: records, security, privacy and probity. Our advice shows its evidence so it stands up to review.

How we work

  • Records and security obligations designed in
  • Evidence behind every recommendation
  • Probity and independence respected
  • Knowledge transferred to your team
  • Approved supplier on government panels
Common questions

Questions we hear most

What does advisory and enablement mean for a government agency?

It is independent advice you can act on: assessments, roadmaps and hands-on enablement across Microsoft 365, governance and digital change, written to respect how government actually works.

How do you engage with government agencies?

Through standard procurement. CG TECH is an approved supplier on Federal, State and Local Government ICT and Professional Services panels, including BuyICT.

Can you work within our security and records requirements?

Yes, they are the starting point. Engagements like our Purview deployment for DESBT were shaped around governance and compliance obligations from day one.

Our problem is adoption, not technology. Can you help?

Often that is the real problem. For the Department of Environment and Science we spent six weeks embedding version control with 153 scientists through training and a community of practice, not just installing a tool.

Do you deliver reports or outcomes?

Reports where a decision is needed, working capability where change is needed. Most engagements end with your team running the result.

Can you run an independent review of an incident or system?

Yes. We run root cause analyses and independent options assessments with stakeholder engagement and evidence-based recommendations.

Where should we start?

With the question your executive is asking now. A scoped assessment usually answers it and maps what to do next.

How do you handle probity and independence?

We are clear about where we have a commercial interest and where we do not, and we are comfortable recommending something we would not deliver. If a review needs to be genuinely independent, say so at the start and we scope it that way.
